My IRATA Level 3 reassessment gear
TURN ON THE CAPTIONS!!
I know the audio is bad. I explain it in the beginning of the video. I got questions on what I used in my reassessment so I decided to upload the video anyway. It is way below my normal standard for quality and it is what it is I can not change it. I have spend hours working on the captions to give you readable subtitles. With the captions on 90% should be clear. The next video will be back to the quality you know.
Hey everyone, welcome back to The Rope Access Channel. In today's video, we're closing out our reassessment series by talking about the gear I've used throughout. From the harness that's been with me every step of the way to the extra bits of rescue gear that have made sure I could tackle every exercise without needing to grab anything extra.
It's a straightforward rundown, nothing fancy, just a chat about what I've been using and why. Whether you're here to pick up some tips for your own kit or just curious about what goes into rope access gear, I hope you'll find it useful.
This video is all about sharing the practical side of things - what works, what doesn't, and how to make sure you're prepared for whatever the job throws at you. So, if you're into rope access, or if you're just starting out and looking for some advice on gear, this one's for you.
Thanks for joining me on this series, and I hope you find this final installment helpful. Let's get into it.

Welcome to the Rope Access Channel. This is the last exercise of my IRATA Level 3 reassessment, and I'm excited to share the final exercise with you. I stayed cool under pressure, adapting to every new twist like it was no big deal. It was a blast! Whether you're a rope ac...
The Full Skylotec Spark Review - Is this the best descender?

This is the long term review of the SKYLOTEC SPARK. After 8 months of solid use it is time I bring you this long term review of the SKYLOTEC Spark. The Spark is very similar to the Sirius and only lacks the anti panic function. Personally, for my own kit I don’t like those functions so the Spark suits me perfectly. The Spark has very quickly become one of my favorite descenders out there. It is...

Breaking into a tight line NO EXTRA GEAR - Is this hardest Level 3 rope rescue?
Переглядів 16 тис.4 місяці тому
Breaking into a tight line and performing a pitch head haul used to be one of the staple exercises for an IRATA level 3 assessment. Together with the Short link rescue these were the hardest exercises to do. It requires a lot of experience and insight in how to do this and adapt on the fly. Rope management skills are essential to keep track of what is going on at all times. When the TACS was in...
Is The Figure Of Nine Knot Actually Easier To Untie?

A Figure of Eight knot is easier to untie than a Figure of Nine knot. I have been proving this since the early 2000's and as of late online more often. And still, for some reason people still claim the opposite. Even the poll I recently posted had 32% of the people saying the F9 would be easier to untie. The Figure of eight knot is one of the best allround climbing knots for many reasons and it...

    This is all very well demonstrated, however it would be nice to see a version without using your casualties kit. As of course the #1 rule is to take it and use it, but sometimes the reason they’re being rescued is due to equipment failure.

      Not really comparable right. One is a belay device, the other an industrial descender, a rescue device and a belay device… Big difference.. Also in size and weight haha

    • @cdurkinz
      @cdurkinz 14 днів тому

      @@TheRopeAccessChannel They sure as heck aren't comparable in price and you're probably way more knowledgeable than I about the other uses. GriGri is often used as a descender in the same manner by climbers but it can also slip way worse than you show in the video if you unweight it for a split second so I doubt it's even allowed in industrial settings. I want a megawatt now though! The one handed expert operation looks super handy. Thanks for the video.

    How many Grillon can you carry with you in the assessment? And please another question, can you carry all the equipment you want with you? Or can the evaluator oppose the being that you have a lot of equipments? Thank you for your answer.

    • @TheRopeAccessChannel
      @TheRopeAccessChannel 14 днів тому

      THese days you can use whatever you want (with the modern day assessor). However, if it seems that you NEED a piece of exotic gear to be able to do something that is simple with a footloop or accessory cord, they may ask you to show a simpler version. Like using a Petzl Jag or Harken Wingman for a Croll rescue. Hell, I even used and Actsafe winch on my latest assessment haha So if you go into a rescue and think a fourth asap would be good, just take it.

    • @TheRopeAccessChannel

      Hi Jen, I have a few ways of doing it ;-). This was the way Lucasz taught it in the course so I just stuck with that ;-) That is a very good subject I have gotten quite a few questions about. It is high up on the list. At the moment however I am swamped with work and I shifted my spare time priorities away from the channel. I’ll see if I can squeeze it in somewhere because it is actually quite an easy video to edit (if I dont actually do the team rescue haha. In short, I go to the whiteboard and mark every rigging point as a station. Then proceed to write out exactly which gear is needed per station (A, B, C). When that is complete I explain to the team and assign them to a station. With their shopping list the can go and rig what I wrote down . When they are done you can check on the whiteboard how many locked carabiners there should be at each station, so have them count out loud the number of biners.. Unless you can already see it of course. I also keep it very simple. No english reeves and things like that. Usually a diagonal “tension” line and some cross hauling

    Excellent content, delivery and explanations....however I'm still confused on when you 'add up' a system vs 'multiply' a system to get the MA. Watched this and next video several times and looked at comments: but don't see an explanation to C: of the first quiz.... how is it a 5:1? recently joined volunteer Fire service and recently learning these systems. can you point me toward answers of why C: is a 5 to 1? to be 5 it has to be product of addition ...yes?

    • @TheRopeAccessChannel
      @TheRopeAccessChannel 22 дні тому

      Its been a while since I published this and I think C was more of a teaser of what was to come in later video's.. The T-method video should explain all of it. Globally (not the right English term) when you have an MA pulling on an MA you multiply and they move at different speeds. When they move in opposite directions towards each other you add up. That is for complex systems

    great video! Iam currently Fisat Level 2 and I want switch to IRATA for the Level 3 due to the now even more expensive every year repeating assessment. dont get me wrong it is very important to re asses especially rescue but in my eyes every year 500 Eur is really a lot and says a lot about the Fisat so called 'club'. Do you know if its possible to switch at all? I have 154 days of work and 1260 hours certified as a Fisat climber. Also for the coil I know how to twist it without losing the rope at all its hard to explain tho. its important that you keep the Rope short that will make things easier. I guess if youd take some time youll figure it out yourself. rock on Alex!

      Great solution. Arguably better and actually the way I was taught many moons ago hahaha. However in IRATA the Clove Hitch is not taught anymore. We like our knots to stay in the rope without a biner in it. Personally it is what I would do in real life. Especially because you can move it along the rope as you ascend

    Jesus normally use knot guide app for any new knots as videos are normally a nightmare but that’s bang on. Best demo iv seen❤
